Prosecutors Take the Lead in Safe Schools Initiative

School violence and crisis management continues to be a concern for law enforcement, education and community leaders that needs proactive leadership, vigilance and collaboration.

To this end, the seven Southern New Jersey Prosecutors Offices are to be commended for their dedication to school safety and security. On Thursday, August 12, 2010, they will present their 4th annual school safety and security conference which serves as a model for what our community leaders must do throughout the entire nation. This event is designed for the following community members:

  • Superintendents
  • Principals/Administrators
  • Counselors/Psychologists
  • Board Members
  • School Resource Officers
  • Crisis Management Teams
  • Chiefs of Police
  • Sheriffs/Law Enforcement Executives/Management
  • Emergency Services Personnel
  • Mayors/Council Members
  • College Administrators/Public Safety Personnel
  • Coaches/Teachers/Educational Support
  • D.A.R.E. Officers
  • District/Campus Security Directors

As an invited speaker, I will deliver a presentation titled Transforming Our Schools: Reawakening the Heart of the Nation. It will integrate school safety and security issues with character education and academic achievement so mission critical to our schools, communities and the nation. It is also an honor that the first 300 registrants will receive a copy of my newest book, Listen To Their Cries: Calling the Nation to Renewal from Columbine to Virginia Tech. This was made possible through the generosity of the prosecutors as facilitated by the leadership of Prosecutor Sean F. Dalton of Gloucester County.

The seven counties involved with this event include:

  • Atlantic
  • Burlington
  • Camden
  • Cape May
  • Cumberland
  • Gloucester
  • Salem

Other speakers include the Attorney General of the State of New Jersey and the State of New Jersey Commissioner of Education.

A special recognition is also deserved by the Gloucester and Salem County Prosecutor's Offices "Security Initiative Committee" as well as J.C. Magee Security Solutions and Sonitrol Security of Delaware Valley.
